I N V O C A T I O N Daily Blessing, Sunday 22 June 2025 May your soul and your shoulders relax. May you pause. May you breathe. May time find you in an attitude of repose, of letting go, of allowing yourself to notice even amid the many sorrows some of the countless ways in which the world is beautiful; in which wonder can tilt your heart just so. And may these sabbaths accumulate in your being like layers of rich sediment, out of which can grow greater love— for here, for the more deeply real, for all that the noise and artifice of our days has been making you forget. S C R I P T U R E & R E A D I N G S T A K E A W A Y S & Q U E S T I O N S *Even when we think people are too far gone, rest assured, that spark of the divine image is still in there. We might just need to start back at the beginning and ask the simplest question: “what is your name?” And then maybe another simple question after that like, “what do you want?” *Whoever they are, however lost they seem, they can be found with simple presence. *Freedom often begins with naming it. The man names it. Legion! It feels like 5000 Roman soldiers are in my head ordering me around and I’ve lost myself in it. I don’t know where all the cares and confusion have left me. I don’t even know who I am right now. Just saying it made room for the beginning of healing. *Jesus sets him free. With a question. With patient listening. And with permission to just let it go. *The townspeople find the man. Dressed (put back together). In his right mind. Next to Jesus. And it scared them. And they ask Jesus to leave. And Jesus leaves. And the man wants to go with Jesus. And Jesus says “Stay here and tell people your story.” *Free and awake people don’t follow the script! *There’s nothing quite so compelling and potentially powerful and beautiful and disruptive as a person who is free and close to the heart of Christ’s love. A R T W O R K B E N E D I C T I O N You are God’s Child Gifted with dreams and visions. Upon you rests the grace of God like flames of fire. Love and serve the Lord in the wildness of your being. Practice Resurrection. And may the deep peace of Christ be with you, The strong arms of God sustain you, And the glory of the Holy Spirit shine upon your face. Amen.
